It’s easy to be negative on the internet.
There’s something about the disconnection from reality that allows our minds to wander off to their darker recesses and spew out nonsense one wouldn’t dare to speak out loud.
And, on the back of the comments in a recent Fantasy Football Manager YouTube video, I reckon it’s time to bring some positivity back to proceedings.
So, here’s a look at 5 things people LOVE about playing Fantasy Premier League…
5. The sense of community
You’re on the internet right now, looking at a screen – ultimately alone. But isn’t it nice when you have someone there to write (or make videos) about the things you’re interested in? And better still, in this day and age you have the opportunity to interact with those like-minded individuals.
Be it through Twitter, commenting on YouTube, or just a 5 minute chat with a colleague you see is doing well in your work’s league, ultimately FPL brings people together.
4. It’s risk-free gambling
If you’ve ever watched a game of football, you’ve probably been exposed to an advert that promotes gambling. Wouldn’t it be glamorous to be like Ray Winstone, all big and tough because you’ve made a bit of money from betting. When reality hits, spending real money on events you can’t control – in the hope you’ll be given more money back – results in you having a lot less money than you started with.
I should know, I’ve been there, got the certificate.
The beauty of Fantasy Premier League, however, is that it lets you take similar risks to those inclined to have a flutter, but without the possibility of losing your hard-earned pennies.
I bet you know what I’m talking about.
3. It’s a chance to show off
What’s better than having a laugh with your mates? Showing your mates that you’re superior, probably.
And that’s what FPL lets you do. You can take your carefully crafter football knowledge and show your peers you know more than them.
And, if you don’t have any mates, just check out number 5 in this list and show off to the rest of the FPL community.
People will appreciate it.
2. You can be creative
We all like a laugh.
For me, if that laugh comes from the formulation of a good pun, then I’m all the more happy for it.
Make it a football pun, then Bebe, I’m yours.
So, here’s to the classic fantasy football names like Sporting Lesbian, Nottinher Forest & Inter Yanan to the new boys Lord of the Ings, Benteke Fried Chicken, etc. etc.
