Aguer-oh no, not again

For flip’s sake. Sergio. What’s going on?

Let me paint you a picture…

It’s Monday night of Gameweek 13, you’ve just spent 80-odd minutes watching Crystal Palace v Sunderland via the FPL Videprinter.

You need some excitement.

You look to your Fantasy Premier League team.

It’s given you so much joy in the past…

“What was the highlight of the season so far?” you quiz yourself.

And, against all intuition that you should be doing anything else to take your mind off of FPL, a little Argentine pops in to your bored little head.

“Ah yeah! Remember when you captained Agueroooo and he scored FIVE in one week…”

Eureka.

You convince yourself Sergio’s strike against Liverpool means another 5-goal haul is simply a matter of days away.

Panic strikes.

An urge to bring him back takes over.

You look at your budget for transfers.

It’s not pretty.

Sacrifices have to be made.

Cutbacks need to be considered.

The sword of Damocles hangs over your squad.

All these questions crop up:

  • Who can you let go?
  • Who’s expendable?
  • Who frees up enough funds?
  • Why are you talking to yourself?

There’s only one answer.

One man to make way.

Like the first monkey to be shot in to space, you don the experimental space suit on one Kevin De Bruyne.

“They’re pretty much like for like,” you convince yourself. “When City smash Southampton in Gameweek 14, it’s far more likely Aguero gets the goals and KDB falls flat again.”

But, KDB’s in midfield, so someone else has to go, you realise.

“Martial’s out injured, he won’t be back for a while,” your train of thought continues. “Rooney’s out for ages as well. That Memphis bloke scored for United. He’s guaranteed to start AND play up front against Leicester. And they just give away goals like they’re going out of fashion.”

So, out goes Martial and KDB, and in comes Memphis and Kun Aguero.

The rest, as they say, is history…

But at least the knock that Sergio sustained doesn’t seem to be too bad.

At least Memphis looked sharp when he came on for the past few minutes.

At least you have a nice new FPL t-shirt to wear…

Sure, there were some positives to take out of Gameweek 14, but deciding to swap out KDB to fund a swoop for Sergio wasn’t one of them.

Maybe I need to follow my own advice and treat FPL like a marathon, not a sprint.

Maybe I need to tune in to more of the Chief’s solo radio shows?

Maybe the enigma that is FantasyYIRMA can help me out?

Maybe I just need to realise that bad week’s happen and not to panic so much.

Maybe you can help me?

If so, comment below…

  2. Are you not worried that it will take 3-5 weeks for Aguero to get fit anyways? I had him at the start of the season but I won’t bother getting him in again unless he’s showing form and I have a free transfer or wildcard tbh. Having said all that I did spend points this week to get Kane in which didn’t do anything for me.
