Ok, so I said I had a plan for after the International break.
“Save your free transfer,” I quipped. “Think ahead and think how good it will be to have those two free transfers to play with.”
The lure of bringing in an attacking defender took over me. It was a sticky situation, but turning to the Toffees and Everton’s Seamus Coleman was too hard to resist.
Yes, they have a tricky looking fixture with West Ham away, but I’m confident Coleman is a better option than Russell Martin (suspended) and Kyle Walker (Arsenal away) this week and looking ahead to Gameweek 13 and beyond.
Also, I came to remember a tactic that served me well in my first season of focused FPL.
Back a form team. Not necessarily form players.
We discussed it on #FFMLive.
Picking combos of players from a team that’s been doing well is the way forward. Sure, you may miss out on those big scoring one-off events (like an Arouna Kone hat-trick), but having a solid back-up for your key players seems like a sound tactic to me.
Maybe I’ll be proved wrong.
Maybe Kyle Walker will go on to bag a brace against the Gunners.
But, FPL is a game of maybes.
I know I’d rather have Coleman. He’s mustard.
What do you reckon?
